1. Introduction
Anana Fertility ("Anana," "we," "our," or "us") operates the Anana Fertility mobile application and related services (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here. This policy is governed by the laws of the State of Wisconsin, United States.
2. Data we collect
Account information
Your name, email address, and an encrypted password. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive only your name and email address — never your password or other account data.
Health & cycle data
Medication schedules, cycle dates, embryo transfer dates, treatment records, symptoms, journal entries, and any other information you choose to enter. This is sensitive health data, and we protect it accordingly. All of this information is entered by you — Anana does not pull data from external health records or connected medical devices.
Medication images
When you use the medication scanning feature, the photo or text you provide is processed to read and organize the medication details (see Section 3).
Usage & device information
App interactions, crash reports, device type, and operating system version, used to keep the app running reliably.
3. AI features & processing
Anana includes a medication scanning feature that uses artificial intelligence to read and structure the information you provide.
When you scan or enter a medication, the image or text is sent to third-party AI providers to be read and structured, and the result is returned to the app. We use Google Gemini as the primary provider and OpenAI (ChatGPT) as a backup when the primary provider is unavailable. This processing happens only to deliver the feature you requested.
These providers process your input to perform the requested task. We do not permit them to use your health information to train their models or for their own purposes, and we rely on their applicable enterprise and data-processing terms. We share only what is needed to perform the scan — not your full account or treatment history.
4. How we use your data
- Deliver and maintain the app and its features.
- Personalize your experience based on your cycle and treatment.
- Read and organize medications you scan or enter.
- Send essential account, security, and service messages.
- Provide reminders for medications and appointments.
- Fix bugs, prevent fraud, and improve performance.
- Meet our legal and compliance obligations.
5. Legal basis for processing
- Contract performance — to deliver the Service you signed up for.
- Consent — for sensitive health data and optional features such as medication scanning. You may withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests — to secure the Service and prevent fraud.
- Legal obligation — to comply with applicable laws.
6. Who we share data with
We engage the following categories of service providers, each bound by data processing agreements:
- Cloud infrastructure & database hosting — Supabase, where your account and health data are securely stored.
- AI processing — Google Gemini (primary) and OpenAI (backup), for the medication scanning feature described in Section 3.
- Subscription & billing — Adapty, to manage app subscriptions. We do not store your payment card numbers.
- Maps & location — Google Maps, to display clinics and appointment locations when you use those features.
- Authentication — Google and Apple sign-in, if you choose to use them.
We may also disclose data to comply with the law, a court order, or to protect rights and safety — only to the minimum extent required. If Anana is ever acquired or merges, your data may transfer to the new entity under the same privacy commitments.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third party for their own commercial purposes. Ever.
7. Retention
- Active account data is retained for the lifetime of your account.
- Deleted account data is removed within 30 days of a verified deletion request, except where retention is required by law.
- Anonymized analytics may be retained indefinitely and cannot be re-identified.
8. Consumer health data protections
Washington My Health My Data Act
If you are a Washington resident, you have additional rights regarding consumer health data. We do not sell consumer health data and do not use it for advertising. You may request deletion of your health data at any time by contacting us at contact@ananafertility.com.
Nevada Consumer Health Data Privacy
If you are a Nevada resident, you have rights under Nevada's consumer health data law consistent with the Washington protections above. The same deletion and opt-out rights apply.
9. California (CCPA / CPRA) rights
California residents have the right to know, delete, and correct personal information we hold; to opt out of any sale or sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising (Anana does neither); to limit use of sensitive personal information; and to non-discrimination for exercising these rights. 10. Your rights
- See your data — request a full copy of what we hold about you.
- Correct your data — ask us to fix anything inaccurate.
- Delete your data — request permanent deletion of your account and records.
- Withdraw consent — pull back any permission you previously granted.
- Non-discrimination — exercising your rights will never affect your service.
You can act on most of these rights directly in the app, or by emailing us. For sensitive requests like full export or deletion, we may ask you to verify your identity first to protect your account from unauthorized access.
11. Security
We protect your data with encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and vetted infrastructure providers. No system is perfectly secure, but we work continually to safeguard your information and will notify you of any breach affecting your data as required by law.
12. International transfers
Your data may be processed in countries outside your own, including the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate transfer mechanisms (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) to protect your data.
13. Children
Anana Fertility is intended for adults and is not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. We will notify you of any meaningful changes before they take effect.
